| Bibles & F.A.Q:
This page contains answers to common
questions handled by our support staff, along with some tips and tricks
that we have found useful and presented here as questions. We
don't have enough frequently asked questions yet, so continue to ask,
and we can add more as time goes on.

We have a bible guide here in the store that you can look at.
We will also help to calm you as you shop by giving you encouraging
words. This list is long but also includes accessories so
don't let it scare you. Most likely you will own more than one
bible in your life. It doesn't have to be the one and only you
will ever buy.
You may consider some of the following:
- Church Specific - If you are a member of a church,
you may want to find out if they have a particular version that
may work best for you so you can all be on the same page.
With that said, you still may find that you have a personal
preference as you investigate different versions.
- Versions - There are different versions of the Bible.
KJV (King James Version, NIV (New International Version, NKJV
(New King James Version) are the most popular versions in use.
There are many others that you may be interested in.
Again, don't be shy, check the Bible Guide out and check some
of your friend's bibles out. Ask around.
- Study Bibles - Just that. They are used to
study the Bible as you read it. They have commentaries and
relational comments.
- Comparative Bibles - Have more than one version in
them, usually on facing pages. These are great to study
different versions to give interesting in-site as to the
differences.
- Devotional Bibles - Have special additional readings
or thoughts accompanying your readings. Can be generic or
specific as "Women's Devotional" or "Men's Devotional" Bibles.
- Chronological Bibles - The writings of the Bible are
put in Chronological order to read as a timeline would read.
- One year Bibles - Designed to have you read the bible
in one year.
- Chain Bibles - Will link items to other items/events
within the Bible and are a type of study bible.
- Leather Cover - It will be the most durable. Leather,
Italian Leather, Bonded Leather, Cloth among the most popular
different covers that are available.
- Print Size. - Regular size print, Large Print, or
Giant Print. The compact or travel bibles will have very
small print because of size. If they had Giant print they
would be small but but about a foot thick. Giant and Large
print is becoming more and more popular even with those that can
still see well.
- Colors and Cover styles - You can get some really
neat Bibles with fish, flowers, filigree carved crosses, etc.
- Age specific - Is the bible going to be for a teen,
tween, youngster, or toddler?
- Catholic Bibles - If you are Catholic - You
will want to get a Bible that is Catholic specific. There
are age specific Bibles for Catholics too.
- Family Bibles - Really, really nice ones can
cost a lot of money. However, that said, you will find
that one of the modern Family Bibles will work just fine in the
$29.00 to $89.00 range. They will have a place for special
events (Baptisms, Marriages, etc.) Most have pages for a family
tree also. It can be a special event (hopefully routine)
that your family will carry forward as you study or read out
loud together. Family time, quality family time.
- Price - The more you want, the pricier it can get.
(Let's see, I will take an indexed, European Leather, two tone,
Giant Print, with lots of maps, a super concordance, gilded
edged, comparative bible, with personal name embossing......) You
might have a hard time finding all the goodies in one bible.
It would probably not be practical and you might need a hand
truck to take it around. You will probably have to settle
for some of the list instead of all the list. A really
nice study bible will range between $69.00 and $150.00.
You will want a bible cover to protect this one.
- Bible Tabs - Most people use bible tabs for the
different sections and books. They look great and you can
get them in a variety of sizes, colors, and styles. The
may even work better than having the index cut-outs on the
sides.
- Bible Covers - You will definitely want one for a
study bible. You will more than likely find a need to have one
if it is not a portable compact bible. Hopefully you
will need one! A great place to also
carry a writing pad, pencil and high-liter too.
- Bible High-liters - Don't use any high-liter in your
bible. Most will bleed through the thin pages and ruin
your bible. You need to make sure it is a "dry" or special
high-liter that will not bleed through the pages. Get them
at your bible store if they are not sold out.
- Bible Map Inserts - There are some incredible
wonderful map inserts now available to add to your bible.
These are great for an add on to that bible that had all the
other goodies that you wanted but didn't have great maps.
- More than one Bible - Remember too, you don't have to
own just one bible. You should consider having a
bible at work, a compact bible for your dash compartment in your car,
one for your purse or desk, one in easy reach in the bedroom, a
study bible, and perhaps a travel bible. Even one in the
bathroom for special meditation moments is great! If that
sounds like too many, think of how many times you could have
spent your time better if you had a bible in easy reach?
Think of how many times you have said "I just haven't had time to
read in my bible." - Part of the reason was because you didn't
have one nearby.
With all this information there is actually a lot more to choose
from if you have specific needs (Minister's Bibles, Old Historical
Versions, Dual Language, we can go on.) Your best bet - just
come in, choose and buy one that feels right, break it in, and work
at trying to give it that well-used look.
"Things are getting better all the time" (remember that "Fab 4"
song? Beatles) -- we now have extensive
download capabilities. We can download virtually thousands of
CD's, Audio books, and accompaniment tracks. We have over
Ten Thousand accompany tracks that we can download and burn
almost instantly for you (usually only takes about 5 minutes
max). Again, let me repeat that! Over Ten Thousand
accompaniment tracks alone! You get those tracks with the lyrics and
usually three to seven octave background versions besides the
original cut! Wow, it just doesn't get any better for you
singers out there! And you "singin' in the shower folks" may
want to get your favorite song on a CD too so you can have fun too!
God just loves to be sung to.
And that's not all! Also included: You can make your
own compilation CDs for weddings, gifts, anniversaries, birthdays,
or any other special occasion too and you get to have your own
customer message on the front of the CD! You can also find an
old time or hard to find CD. We can make audio books, bible
software, Christian video games, and lots more. This month or
next (coming around the corner in any case) we will be able to
instantly download / burn DVD movies for you. Wow, isn't some
of this tech stuff just great? If our CD selection isn't
big enough already, we are in the process of expanding it with
another wall.
Give us a call or come into the store. Right now we pretty
much have the top ten of everything. We will be happy to
search our distributors with our computers and locate it for you if
we don't have it.
We can usually order it in for you in less than a week or three days
if it is a book. Most
of our orders come in on Tuesday or Wednesday every week. If
you need it really fast and don't mind paying a little extra
shipping, we can sometimes get it as fast as 24 to 48 hours for you.
We also ship to APO so your loved ones overseas can get it really
fast too!
Some items to consider:
- We are new and growing.
- We can't have it all right
away.
- There are no stores that have it all.
- Please ask, we may be able to get it for you soon.
- We
will have some things that you will not find at other stores.
- We will probably have it eventually.
Be patient and we will eventually be able to meet most all of
your needs for books, gifts, music, and other items. We are
growing every month with new products, new product lines, number of
books and music offerings available. Good things do take time,
and it's in our plans to be and stay good :-) If you like what
you see so far, as long as Lakewood and the surrounding communities
really want us, we will continue to grow and expand.
-
You can get your bible embossed right here at Lakewood
Christian Gift Center.
-
It is free, yes, that's no charge, when you buy your bible
from our store unless they are below $15 or are multiple gift
award, or pew bibles, etc. -- (please inquire on that option,
it's still a bargain).
- You can still get it embossed even if you bought it
somewhere else for a nominal fee. (Please keep
in mind, it is not a computer that embosses your bible.
The embosser needs to be pre-heated, the type has to be
manually set in a holder with special spacers and a touch to
the aesthetical aspects, the proper embossing material and
temperature have to be chosen, the spacing and placement on the
bible has to be set up for your particular bible, test
imprinting is done first, in short a lot of variables that may
take anywhere from 15 minutes to a half hour to set up. We
shoot for high quality embossing here and also have 23k gold
available besides many different colors and symbols as variables
for your embossing. We will choose the correct embossing
material for your particular bible.
- Usually we like two days to do a quality
embossing since we are only a Mom & Pop (yup we wear all the
hats here and we can't always just jump to the back, especially
if there is only one of us here). If you need it really
fast for going out of town or some other special reason we can
usually accommodate you with a quicker service on this.
